Halloween is a fun celebration. Surely, children from all walks of life are all excited with trick-or-treat and costume party activities. Have you checked out the latest trends this Halloween? If you have a little girl at home and you are wondering what costume suits her best, there are plenty of things to consider. Here are some of them:

Firstly, know the theme of your kid's party, if there's any. Themes can vary greatly from Disney animations to scary dress up costumes. Glamor, rock, classics, pop icons, movie-inspired, superheroes, animations or cartoons-inspired, fantasy, sports and zoo party are some of the possible Halloween themes that your child may be attending. It's all about being creative and having fun.

Second, pick out the dress or costume styles that best suit your little girl's personality. The trick is to pick out a trendy and comfortable piece. Choose designs, cuts and patterns that fit in stylishly with her size, height, figure, and complexion. Make sure that your kid is safe as well. For toddlers, avoid costumes with small buttons. Bulky and heavy costumes are also ideal for bigger girls. If your kid is between one and three years old, opt for light-weight dress.

Third, consider the actual venue of the party. Be sure to call the host beforehand. Check the room temperature as well. If the room is air conditioned, be sure that your child brings along a comfortable coat or vest. If the place is humid, bring extra clothes. You can get a lot of ideas from fashion magazines and online shops that sell Halloween costumes. If you want your child to last for hours, do not compromise comfort over style.

Fourth, identify your budget. Halloween is just a one day event. Do not splurge hundreds and thousands of dollars so that your child will win the best in costume award. There are several do-it-yourself or homemade costumes that you can try. Create a costume that is cheap, yet convenient and practical for both of you and your kid.

These days, little girls love to mimic their favorite pop icon, or TV or movie characters such as Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana, Barbie, High School Musical or Glee get-up, and even the infamous image of Lady Gaga. Fantasy outfits are still in-style like fairies, flowers, gypsies, mermaids and princesses. And animated superheroes like Power puff girls, Wonder Woman, X-men women, and many more are some of the girls' top choice. Other scary costumes include vampires, white ladies, witches, skeletons, zombies, mummies and mean-queens.

The best dress up Halloween costumes for girls can actually be anything as long as your adorable girl wears it smartly. Tell your kid to enjoy flaunting her scary or chic costume and the treats that come with the event.

How to Get Into Amateur Astronomy

31 Jan 2011 at 3:29pm  I can't recall if I ever mentioned it in a post, but for my birthday a few months back my boyfriend got me a telescope. A pretty flipping sweet telescope if you ask me, but of course I'm a bit biased. Anyway, we've taken it out a couple of times since then, but it became clear pretty quickly that we didn't actually know how on Earth to use the thing for much beyond checking out obvious easy-to-find stellar objects like Jupiter and its moons. But that's going to change, because recently we got a firmer toehold in the world of amateur astronomy.

Getting started in amateur astronomy

27 Feb 2007 at 1:12am  Amateur astronomy is a wonderful hobby. There are almost no age limits.I have personally seen a seven year old girl competing on a Messier Marathon. Or a 74 year old man grinding his first telescope mirror. It doesn't matter if you are a parent, and your curious child wants to see the rings of Saturn, or a teenager fascinated by distant galaxies
