Witch costumes are still favorites and quite popular among little trick or treaters or to wear to a Halloween party. Indeed, it is quite true that children to Adults love to wear a Witch costume at Halloween. A witch costume could be kind of cute or scary for a young girl while an adult witch costume might be very sexy or scary. Creating a witch costume from things one already owns that are about the house is easy. All it takes is a little bit of imagination and time to search for the perfect items for the witch costume.
Creating Halloween Witch Costume
Take a look around your closet, a parent's closet, or siblings closet. Remember that witch's costume should be black. So look for a long black cloak with a hood, a long black dress, black leggings or black panty hose, black boots. Other popular color options to mix and match with black are dark purple. For example, dark purple panty hose with long black dress would be a good look.
A Witches's hat is needed to top off the Witch costume. Don't go overboard with the hat. It is easy to find a perfect and very inexpensive plastic dome hat at the local dollar store. They make them in sizes for adults and kids.
A Witch's broom is also basic part of the typical Witch Halloween costume. Use an old kitchen broom if you must. Or buy a cheap witch broom at a dollar store. Either one would be very appropriate for the witch costume.
Most Witches have long white streaked hair that cascades down their back. If your hair is not that long simply tuck your hair under the witch's hat. Those with long hair should let it cascade down their back. Rub a bit of white powder on your hair for a very inexpensive streaked white or greyish look. The powder should not hurt your hair and it should brush out very easily.
Face makeup for witches could be as simple as white powder rubbed on the face and hand drawn warts or moles with an eyebrow pencil. Or buy an inexpensive mask at the local dollar store.
Other choices. Include a large to medium size plastic pumpkin head or cauldron easily found at the dollar store for trick or treaters to gather candy treats and your Halloween Witch costume is complete. Or get creative and use a large size brown shopping bag. Write in large print Happy Halloween on both sides with an orange or black magic marker.
