Fairytale Halloween Costumes For Modern Women

halloween-masks: Masked Halloween Costumes

Halloween is the unique time of year when inhibitions fall away and imagination takes over. It is a time to dig deep into the psyche and find a character from an ancient fairytale that represents your inner self, your wishes and desires. Whether sexy or wicked, for one night you assume the personality of the fairytale character, letting that inner aspect of yourself come to the surface. While costumed and masked, life takes on a deeper meaning; the daily role of office worker, teacher, homemaker, or waitress is gone, if only for a few hours, while you become an archetypal character from a tale of long ago. This is not necessarily about the Disney version of fairytales, rather the ancient versions where characters were richer and served a vital societal function of teaching basic mores. So, read the following list of common female archetypes found in traditional fairytales from around the world, get creative this Halloween, and have fun expressing the inner you.

The Princess
Pampered and beautiful, the princess rules her realm. Not feeling pampered or enchantingly beautiful? Than a delicate, elegantly attired princess may be just the character for you. The princess may be a little spoiled, but she deserves it all! Youthful and the favorite of her father, the princess has the whole future ahead of her. Dreams of wealth, a handsome prince, and beautiful children fill her head. Finding the perfect princess costume should be easy as this is one of the all-time favorites. Who wouldn't want to be beautiful and spoiled for the night? Jewels that bedazzle and a tiara in beautifully coiffed hair complete the outfit. From the spoiled Princess and the Pea to Cinderella transformed from abused step-child to ravishing princess, all represent the treasure of the kingdom.

The Heroine
Young, strong, and the envy of all, the heroine selflessly battles evil to save the day. She may come costumed as a young warrior compete with sword or bow and arrows. She could also be an engagingly powerful heroine who saves the world through her wits. Elegant yet subtle, her costume won't be covered in jewels. A black-clad female ninja is lithe and always prepared. If you need an infusion of power and altruism, a heroine costume will do the trick.

Mother Nature
Elemental and wild as a hurricane, or gentle and soft as a new born forest animal, mother nature may come clothed in leaves and vines over a green body suit, or wrapped in clouds of gauze. She can be a stormy night, a forest fire wrapped in flames, or a quiet moment by a tranquil lake. The costume for this powerful being tests your imaginative abilities!

The Wicked Witch
Who doesn't love the uninhibited wickedness of the crafty witch? Maligned throughout history for the power she wields, the witch is so much more than just evilness. She's sly, willful, and watch out for her cunning. Not just for kids costumes, there are sexy witch costumes aplenty for an evening of dark enjoyment. Prefer being the old crone? This can be a disguise to hide the true identity of a young and beautifully wicked witch. Spend half the evening as a hunched old woman wrapped in rags then at midnight reveal the young, bewitching one hidden beneath the cloak.

What would look good with this gas mask? (Halloween costume)?
I wanna get one of these 3: http://cgi.ebay.com/Nato-Military-Gasmask-Slipknot-Gas-Mask-Hose-War-/260680591231?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb1c6277f#ht_878wt_1139 http://cgi.ebay.com/Russian-Soviet-Military-Gas-Mask-Can-Halloween-Goth-/350406057367?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5195d41d97#ht_898wt_1139 http://cgi.ebay.com/MY-BLOODY-VALENTINE-GAS-MASK-/220685023882?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3361da3a8a#ht_500wt_1156 I don't know what i should wear with these, With the two tan ones i was thinking about wearing some sort of tan military outfit. The back one would have a more modern outfit. Where would i find something (for a reasonably cheap price) that would go good with one of these for a Halloween costume?

If they banned the veil...?
Shouldn't they ban the -Skii Mask -Surgical Mask -Halloween Costumes -Wedding Veils -Tinted Sun Glasses ^ any of these could be used to aid in crime... and while we're at it... ban anything that could alter/hide identity: (security reasons) -hoodies -wigs -hair dyes -plastic surgery unless medically required... What else.... continue the list. Why is there so much hypocrisy?? @Saladin: Obviously I do... that's WHY I mentioned it... use that empty brain!! @Obi: They did it for security purposes. Banning all of what I listed would be security purposes, too. Whether religious or not... that doesn't change the fact that these items can be used to conceal yourself, and commit crime, hurt others...etc. @FazliOnline: Exactly !! @Reverie: The difference is... You live in a theocracy where walking out exposed like that is considered offensive. France however was a supposed secular nation. The Veil did not offend them. Security was just an excuse. That is simply oppression. @Obi: Wearing a piece of clothing over your face does not make a woman any less equal than a man. In your own culture... when you?re at the beach.. women are required to cover their breasts...men are not. Does that make women less equal? Your argument is a false premise. Any ?restrictions? are put there because Muslims love their women. And Muslim women are not complaining... neither there... nor here in western countries. They choose to wear Niqabs. But you will never accept that because you refuse to accept the truth. @Modern Outcast: As far as I?m concerned... France is not a free country anymore. @Truth: So you do admit that they are taking away rights... thanks for proving my point. They are doing it because of those people being Muslims...and not for security issues. @Mr. Bushido: The Veil is Sunnah... all Muslims follow Sunnah, so yet it is Islamic. And the rest of your points are irrelevant....does not change the fact that these CAN and DO conceal identity. And wear them in public quite commonly here in this city... Speaking the truth is not being hard-headed. My point stands... they claim to be doing it for security purposes... there is so much they haven?t banned which is just as equally a ?threat.? It?s hypocrisy... and they are being oppressive. @Wild society: LOL. talk about evidence..yes I have given plenty...what evidence have you given? I?ve said nothing opinion related. My opinion has yet to come. So just because they aren?t associated with religious extremism... that makes the items automatically okay? So whether those things are a threat to security.. they will be allowed as long as extremists don?t associate with them... You prove that France isn?t worried about security at all. It is just being irrationally oppressive. Actually, Islam is NOT the biggest religious extremist threat to western societies. It?s not the biggest even in the USA: http://www.loonwatch.com/2010/01/not-all-terrorists-are-muslims/ Again.... wearing a clothing over your face is not degrading. It?s a piece of cloth. There is nothing degrading about it. You seem to think your own taboos are okay... but our taboos are not. Hypocrisy, and you don?t even see it. Ridiculous. Those ?abuse? stories are rare. All the women in my family LOVE wearing Niqabs by choice... and even ask the Muslim women on this site... they wear it by choice. A few cases and that automatically makes the Niqab oppressive? Your generalizations are so humorous. These women choose to wear Niqabs and their basic ri rights as a human are being taken: http://www.mamamia.com.au/weblog/2011/04/french-ban-burqa-and-niqab-as-muslim-women-arrested-for-protesting.html http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2010/08/23/muslim-women-who-wear-the-hijab-and-niqab-explain-their-choice/ So many more women saying they choose to wear them. But bigots will never accept the fact, and you just proved it... Arguing with you seems pointless... @Bing: It?s not part of your culture... no one is forcing you guys to wear Niqabs. But why ruin it for everyone who does want to wear it? Women who wear Niqabs still have identities. They say people notice them for their personalities and not their physical appearance. That?s the most important part of identity. Muslims will conform...as we are taught to abide by the law of the land... But my whole point is that France is being irrational.
