Quick edit, anyone?
His face was reconstructed with a lifelike silicone mask of the type used in wax museums because it was apparently too decomposed to show when the body was exhumed.
It's a poorly-written piece, folks. You are being asked to rewrite it so that it no longer reads SO poorly.
So far, Jacinta, you're winning!
forgive me for the thumbs-down vote!

Why do catholics continually lie about the so-called "incorruptibles"?
Because there is no such thing. (Incorruptible = those that do not decay after death)
Let's take a look at the most famous one for example;
St Bernadette. She died in 1879 and was exhumed 30 years later. The church claims that she was "discovered to be incorrupt and free of odor" however, the reality is much different. Two doctors who examined her state categorically that she was obviously mummified by salts. And that in 1919 when she was put on display to the public (after her sainthood) she was in such a state as to "make an unpleasant impression on the public" so, a wax mask was made from the death mask mold (taken at her death and carefully preserved) and fake wax hands were added to the corpse. This is why only her face and part of her hands are shown. The corpse underneath was unrecognizable at the time.
Another famous "incorruptible" is the famous fraud, Padre Pio.
He was embalmed with a large amount of formaldahyde upon death (according to the church's own records, a fact corroborated by the men who embalmed him) Even with this attempt at preservation, when he was exhumed 40 years later, his remains were little better than a skeleton. This is the reason why he is displayed with a Silicone mask over his skull. Silicone lasts longer and doesn't have to be maintained as much as the earlier wax masks the church uses to hide the truth.
So, why would they go through so much trouble? Why would they deliberately lie? "Follow the money" as my dad used to say.
The church that Padre Pio used to perform his dog-and-pony act was failing miserably after his death, so sainthood was the perfect solution. Now, thousands of gullible sheep file in to see the "incorruptible" saint every week, leaving behind their hard earned money as they do so.
This is equally true of EVERY church that has a so-called "incorruptible" on display.
Barnam was right, there is a sucker born every minute. At least Barnam entertained the folks, the church does FAR more damage...
So, to those of you who still claim that there are "incorruptibles" what you you have to say?
I see even the catholics are incapable of recognizing when they're being played for saps by their own church.
Really, this is pathetic.
Crusader,
the church's definition of Incorruptible is;
Those that do not decay after death and who's bodies emit a pleasant or no oder whatsoever.
That's what the church says.
I await your apology.
